Interview/Application Process

To interview/apply to the Career Switcher Program an individual initially submits the following:

  • Application Form with $25.00 application fee made payable to ODU
  • Resume (include any teaching experiences you may have)
  • Letter of intent (brief statement on your intention of teaching)
  • A completed career switcher pre-assessment questionnaire form. Click here to download
  • Unofficial  academic  transcripts  (Official required at licensure submittal)
  • Globally evaluated academic transcripts if graduated from an institution outside the USA
  • When completed documentation is received you will be scheduled for a one-on-one interview.

When the documentation above is received or brought into the Career Switcher Program office you will be scheduled for a one-on-one interview session.

To be formally admitted into the Career Switcher Program candidates must also submit copies of the following:

  • VCLA (Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment Test) pre-assessment test scores
  • PRAXIS II Subject Specialty Test
  • VRA (Virginia Reading Assessment Test (Required for PK-6 Elementary Education Teaching)
