Dr. Jane Hager, Professor

Dr. Hager, who has taught at the elementary and middle school levels, received the Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1977 and has taught at Old Dominion since that time.

Dr. Hager has authored over 60 publications in the field of reading education and literacy development. She has served as Chair of the American Reading Forum, President of the Virginia State Reading Association and represents the international Reading Association on the Board of Examiners of the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education. In addition, she has been a member of four standing committees of the International Reading Association. Dr. Hager serves as a co-principal investigator of the Commonwealth Special Education Endorsement Program, which has received over three million dollars of state funding.
