Scholarly Pursuit
The ID&T program is attractive to me because I currently teach web development in high school and would like to expand my student's capabilities as web developers. I would also like to get involved in my school system's current efforts to develop online instructional materials. I am particularly interested in developing online curriculum for kinestetic learners and people with ADD or ADHD. Integrating my knowledge of databases, programming and web developement into the ID&T field and my profession is my goal.
Professional Activites and History
I am currently a high school teacher in Virginia Beach at the Landstown Technology academy. I teach web development, keyboarding, Java Programming, and SQL. I am certified as a CIW Internet webmaster and am the webmaster of the Landstown High School Site. Landstown High School and Technology Academy has an Oracle Internet Academy, and after two long and arduous summers of training at UCLA, I am proud to be a certified instructor. What I am even more proud of, are the accomplishments of my students. I am also a co-sponsor of the Future Business Leaders of America.
Background
Before becoming a teacher who is addicted to the success of her students, I was a stay at home mom who did not know anything about education or the computer. Thanks to the University of Tennesse, Old Dominion University (Thanks Dr. Crouch), Norfolk State University, Tidewater Community College, and Oracle Corporation, I learned some really amazing things. I was born in Norfolk, attended Kempsville High School, Old Dominion Unversity for my B.S. in Management, and Norfolk State Univerisity for my teaching certification some 15 years later. My husband, Moustafa R. Moustafa is a professor of engineering at Old Dominion University. My two children are teenagers, but they are tremendously bright and fun.
