Secondary Education: Licensure Only

This program is for a student who has a bachelor's degree and is seeking an initial teaching license for grades 6-12 without getting a master's degree. Students entering this program must have a degree in the liberal arts or sciences (or equivalent as established by the Commonwealth of Virginia) and complete 30 credits of education classes which includes a fourteen week student teaching experience. Students who do not have a degree in the liberal arts or sciences may need to take additional academic course work to meet the Virginia standards. An advisor in the Office of Teacher Education Services will meet with prospective students to evaluate their undergraduate course work and to determine any academic content courses or prerequisites which may be required.
