Elementary Education

The Darden College of Education offers two programs that result in a license to teach on the elementary level, the Early Childhood program, which is only offered here on our main campus in Norfolk, and our Elementary Education program, which is offered on the main campus, as well as at over 40 of our TELETECHNET sites across Virginia and the nation. TELETECHNET is a satellite delivered teleconferencing system.

These are both designed to be fifth year master degree programs for students with an undergraduate degree in ODU's College of Arts and Letter's Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) program (See: http://www.odu.edu/al/ids/). However, both programs will accept students with other liberal arts degrees, and offer a licensure only track for students who do not wish to pursue a master's degree.

The Early Childhood Education program leads to a master's degree (5th year) and a license to teach PK-grade 3. The emphasis in this program is early childhood growth and development. See:
