Ph.D. in Education with Concentration in Educational Leadership

The program leading to the Ph.D. in Education with a concentration in Educational Leadership prepares educational leaders for a wide variety of professional positions including K-12 administration and supervision, data-based decision-making, research, teaching in higher education, education association leadership, and state and national policy-making. While the Ph.D. program does not lead to school administrator licensure as other programs in the Educational Leadership Program do (i.e., the M.S., Ed. S. and Licensure Only Programs), it does partially fill requirements for school district superintendents. The goal is to prepare professionals who possess the knowledge and skills needed to provide leadership and produce meaningful change in educational organizations with the underlying premise of social justice.

Students are expected to possess substantial knowledge and experience upon admission. The program of study expands students' ability to understand, analyze, interpret, and act using data in order to improve the success of the organization in attaining organizational goals. Students generate and disseminate new information and knowledge as they participate in and successfully complete their program.
