Campus Housing
READY students have the option to be either residential or commuter students. We at ODU READY feel that in order to follow the mission of the program, it is important for those READY students who are able to live on campus to fully learn and experience all aspects of independent living.
Thanks to Old Dominion University, ODU READY has housing on campus! Apartment units for READY students are located off Powhatan Street between 49th and 47th Streets. The Powhatan Apartments are located directly across the street from the brand new Student Recreation Center, where READY students will attend campus classes. These apartments house four (4) students, with two (2) students to a room. Each apartment has one bathroom, one kitchen, and one living room. The apartments come carpeted living and dining area, a full kitchen, and one and a half baths, including local telephone, television, and internet access. All apartments are furnished with single beds, desks, chest of drawers, a dining table and chairs, a couch, wing chairs, coffee and end tables, trash cans, and a lamp. The complex offers a central front desk, a community room with a full kitchen and study lounge, two large laundry rooms, vending machines, and covered bike areas. To view floor plans and pictures of the apartments, click on this link: Office of Housing and Residence Life. Residential READY students are required to purchase a minimum Block 25 meal plan.
Each READY student boards with another READY Student and a College Resident Assistants (RA). RA's serve as guides and mentors to READY students during their time in their residences and on weekends. Each READY student is also partnered with a READY Mentor to serve as guides to campus and community involvement, social relationships, and will assist in helping READY students adjust to college life. Mentors will introduce READY students to campus organizations, events, and assist in teaching students the "in-and-outs" of independent living and responsibilities.
