Commonwealth Special Education Endorsement Program (CSEEP)
Through a grant funded by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), the Darden College of Education of Old Dominion University has initiated a distance learning endorsement program for conditionally licensed special educators teaching in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Paraprofessional Preparation for Extraordinary Teaching (PPET) grant program
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), and the Darden College of Education of Old Dominion University are seeking full time, contracted paraprofessionals, teachers' aides, long term substitutes or other non licensed personnel in public school divsions who are interested in obtaining licenses in special education in the areas of ED, LD, or MR. Applicants must hold bachelor's degrees from an accredited university and have never held a teaching license.
Virginia Department of Education Tuition Assistance for Special Educators
The Department of Education has budgeted a portion of Virginia's Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Part B grant funds to provide tuition assistance of up to $500 per course for a maximum of three courses per year for special educators and paraprofessionals working in special education classrooms. This program also provides assistance to early childhood special educators.
