Non-Degree Admission: No more than 12 credit hours can be taken as a non-degree student. If more than 12 credit hours are taken as a non-degree student, these hours cannot count towards credits required for Masters degree completion.

  • must possess a bachelor's degree from a state recognized, accredited institution.
  • complete the non-degree application and tuition rate determination (located on Graduate Admissions web page)

Regular Admission (meets the University's requirements):

  • Undergraduate GPA 2.8 or better from regionally accredited institution in which Bachelors degree was received.
  • Goal Statement (500 words)- include subject area/grade level of focus and elaborate on personal motivation for pursuing teaching as a career.
  • Professional Resume (2 page max.)- 6 years of full time work experience is required for admission.
  • Praxis I (must pass all sections) - SAT cannot be used to substitute Praxis I.
  • Complete application on the Graduate Admissions web page, by published deadlines found in admission application.

Provisional Admission (does not fully meet the requirements as a regular graduate student, must maintain a GPA of 3.0 (B average) or better in first 12 credit hours to be transferred to regular status):

  • Undergraduate GPA 2.5 or better from regionally accredited institution in which Bachelors degree was received. 
  • Goal Statement (500 words)- include subject area/grade level of focus and elaborate on personal motivation for pursuing teaching as a career.
  • Professional Resume (2 page max.)- 6 years of full time work experience is required for admission.
  • Praxis I (pass with composite score of 532)
  • Complete application on the Graduate Admissions web page, by published deadlines found in admission application.
