Please check with your advisor before registering for a course to fulfill a content requirement.

CLEP and DANTES information is available at the ODU testing center website. CLEP/DANTES exams must be approved by your advisor before you register. Not all CLEP/DANTES exams are accepted.

Videostream- applicable only to those that qualify based on MCTP main campus review. Students who register for MCTP videostream sections without approval from the MCTP office, will be administratively dropped from the course.

Financial Resources:

Licensure Process:

  • Complete all content course work (undergraduate courses covering subject area/grade level specialization). Must be completed prior to student teaching. Order official transcripts.
  • Complete graduate course work (36 semester hours for most degree program), following prescribed program of study.  Order official ODU transcript when degree is posted.
  • Pass all assessments (currently Praxis I and II; VRA for elementary and VCLA ).
  • complete child abuse and neglect training and include certificate in packet
  • Submit licensure packet with check or money order made out to "Treasurer of Virginia", to advisor
  • Advisor will verify that all documents are enclosed and will forward licensure packet with content review and program of study to main MCTP office on campus
  • MCTP main campus advisor will verify all requirements for licensure have been met and submit only complete packages forward to Director of Teacher Edcuation services for signature.
  • Completed and signed packets will be sent to Virginia Department of Education for processing. Students in Washington St. will receive their insitutional verification form in the mail to submit with their application for certification.
