About The Department

The Department of STEM Education and Professional Studies offers five majors under the degree of Bachelor of Science in occupational and technical studies. The five bachelor's-level majors offered by the department are marketing education, technology education, training specialist, fashion, and industrial technology.

At the graduate level, the department offers the degree of Master of Science with majors in business and industry training, career and technical education, community college teaching (occupational and technical), instructional design and technology, mathematics education, and science education. Additionally, an Education Specialist degree with an emphasis in educational leadership is offered. The department also supports the M.S. in Modeling and Simulation (College of Engineering and Technology) by offering a cognate in simulation-based instruction. The department has several concentrations in the PhD in Education: career and technical education, human resources training, instructional design and technology, and technology education.

The department also offers minors in marketing education, fashion merchandising, and training and development, a certificate in industrial training, and licensure/endorsement programs in marketing teacher education, technology teacher education, vocational special needs education, industrial cooperative training, and vocational evaluation.

Students interested in these programs of study should consult the appropriate program leader or the graduate program directors regarding program requirements and selection of courses.

The Department Office is located in the Education Building, Room 228, and is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
