Minors
Minor in Fashion Merchandising
The department offers a minor in fashion merchandising for students majoring in disciplines other than fashion. Students must have a minimum overall cumulative grade point average of 2.00 in all courses taken toward the minor and complete a minimum of nine hours in upper-level courses in the minor requirement through courses offered by Old Dominion University. The minor requires 15 hours of course work including OTS 208 or OTS 220 and twelve hours from among the following courses: MKTG 412, OTS 303, OTS 312, OTS 405, OTS 415, OTS 422, OTS 423, OTS 424, or OTS 431.
Minor in Marketing Education
The minor in marketing education is offered by the department to students majoring in disciplines other than marketing education. This is a good program for those who major in a marketing-related discipline and think they would like to get a teaching license after they graduate. This program will cover many of the courses they would have to take to meet licensure requirements in Virginia. Students must have a minimum overall cumulative grade point average of 2.75 in all courses taken toward the minor and six hours of the 300/400-level courses must be taken through courses offered by Old Dominion University. The minor requires 16 hours of course work as follows: OTED 297, 401, 408, OTS 402, 430, 450. Students will have to take and pass the PRAXIS I exam in order to pass OTS 297 and before they enroll in OTS 408.
Minor in Training and Development
The minor in training and development is offered by the department for students majoring in other disciplines. Students must have a minimum overall cumulative grade point average of 2.00 in all courses taken toward the minor and six hours of the 300/400-level courses must be taken through courses offered by Old Dominion University. The minor requires 15 hours of course work as follows: OTED 400; OTS 389, 402, 430, 450.
