Brief Description

Reading really is fundamental and the foundation for all learning.  Presented by a Librarian-Media Specialist, the goals or the course are to:

• Share books that will enhance a youngster's learning and development
• Identify books that will enlighten cultural diversity
• Be able to select appropriate reading for youngsters and use them effectively at home, in the classroom including the use of Big Books and reading aloud techniques
• Become familiar with appropriate literature for youngsters, highlighting literary form from poems, to traditional literature and contemporary realistic fiction. 

Reading is an art that helps youngsters appreciate the beauty of language and adds another horizon to their life's experience. 

Final class meets at Rosemont Youth and Children's Library, Virginia Beach.
