For Hampton Roads students, Thursday, August 14, 2008, 8:30 am-12:30 pm in the Hampton/Newport News Room, Webb University Center.
For Distance Learning Students, outside of the Hampton Roads area, the Orientation Meeting will be televised to the ODU TTN Site at your local community college or Higher Education Center on Thursday, August 14, 2008, 4-5:45 pm. Please notify your site that you will attend.

All individuals seeking admission into any Teacher Education Program upon enrolling/registering for their first Education class are required to purchase the LiveText, the Web-based Portfolio Assessment System approved by the Teacher Education Council. In addition, any student taking a course in which the instructor requires the Web-based Portfolio Assessment System will be required to purchase this system. This must be purchased either from ODU bookstore or www.livetext.com . You do NOT need the subscription with Unitedstreaming. Make sure to register with your official ODU name and your UIN.

The Virginia Association of School Personnel Administrators (VASPA) is sponsoring "The Virginia Education Job Expo." This job fair will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center, 2371 Carl D. New requirement for student teaching - Passing scores on the Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment (VCLA) will be required for student teaching beginning Spring 2009.
Teacher Candidates applying for student teaching beginning Spring 2009 must have passing scores on the VCLA prior to starting the student teaching internship placement. This change in student teaching policy was approved by the Teacher Education Council, the governing body for the teacher education programs at Old Dominion University. This requirement is already in the 2006-2008 catalog and will now be enforced beginning in the Spring 2009 semester. Candidates will not be allowed to student teach without passing scores on the VCLA beginning Spring 2009 semester. Teacher Education majors -- The Virginia Department of Education is seeking students in educator preparation programs to participate in a field test of new test questions for the Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment. This field test opportunity is available to those students who are registered to take the Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment (VCLA) or the Virginia Reading Assessment (VRA) on Saturday, March 29, 2008. Each field test consists of three short-answer items and two written assignments developed for the VCLA, and will take approximately 90 minutes to complete.FMI click here.

Emergency registration is available for test takers who need to register but have missed the regular and late registration deadlines. Early Commitment Interviews for Teacher Candidates - Interviews have been arranged by the Career Management Center and the Darden College of Education with local-area school districts. Teacher candidates participating in the last practicum course (prior to student teaching) as well as those in their student teaching experience this semester are eligible to participante. Canadidates MUST register with eRecruiting to participate by contacting eRecruiting@CMC and completing a profile, upload your resume and choose the school system/s you wish to interview with, as listed below.
