Undergraduate Teacher Education Programs

Application Procedures

  • Admission requirements
  • Undergraduate Teacher Education Application (download and print all four pages, and complete by following the instructions on the cover page and as outlined below)
  • Complete and sign Section 1 of the application
  • Complete and sign Authorization for Release of Disciplinary Records contained in the Old Dominion University student's record.  This form is page 3 of the application packet.  All applicants are required to submit this form signed, prior to being admitted into a teacher education program at ODU.
  • Professional Dispositions Survey
    Complete and "submit" the Professional Disposition Survey. To access the instructions to complete the survey, click hereThis survey must be completed in order to be admitted into the undergraduate teacher education program
  • Complete Section 2: Meet with your an ODU Faculty to complete the Faculty/TTN Site Director Comment Form, page 2, and sign Section II.  If you are a distance learning student, meet with your TTN Site Director to complete the Comment Form, page 2, and sign section 2
  • Complete Section 3:  Your major academic advisor will complete and sign Section 3 
  • Complete the Admission Interview, if required for your teacher education program. 
    This is a NEW PILOT PROGRAM procedure for selected programs ONLY beginning Fall 2010.  This Admission Interview is required for undergraduate students attending the ODU main campus, and/or the Higher Education Centers in the Hampton Roads area ONLY.   Submit the Undergraduate Techer Education Application with a copy of your passing Praxis I scores or equivalent or equivalent approved scores by the Virginia Board of Education Teacher Education Services and Advising, Education Building, Room 152 


Graduate Teacher Education Programs

Application Procedures

  • Admission requirementsRead this information first, prior to submitting your application.
  • Application is available online at:  http://www.odu.edu/admission/graduate 
  • Submit all required documents as specified by each graduate program, and the non-refundable fee (if applicable). If you need to mail any documents, mail them to: Office of Graduate Admissions, Old Dominion University, Virginia 23529-0050
  • Activate your MIDAS ID
    Activate your MIDAS ID as soon as you are admitted to graduate school.  This is necessary in order to access Blackboard and complete the Professional Disposition Survey.
  • Professional Dispositions Survey
    Complete and submit the Professional Disposition Survey as soon as you are admitted to graduate school.     This survey must be completed prior to registering for classes.  You will be administratively dropped from your classes if this survey is not completed.  To access the instructions to complete the survey, click here   


Post-baccalaureate Endorsement Programs

Application Procedures

  • Admission requirements
  • Interview and receive recommendation for admission from a department representaive, Teacher Education Services Advisor, or site director (TELETECHNET ONLY)
  • Non-degree Admissions
    Complete and submit the online Application for Non-degree Entry and Application for In-state Tuition.  Once it is submitted online, allow three or four days to be processed and loaded in the Leo Online student record system.
  • Activate your MIDAS ID
    After you are admitted as a non-degree student, activate your MIDAS ID.
  • Register for classes
  • Professional Dispositions Survey
    Complete and submit the Professional Disposition Survey.  To access the instructions to complete the survey, click hereThis survey must be completed in order to be admitted into a teacher education program
  • Post-baccalaureate Endorsement Program Application
    Complete the Darden College of Education Post-baccalaureate Endorsement  Program Application  
  • Complete and sign Authorization for Release of Disciplinary Records contained in the Old Dominion University student's record.  This form is part of the application packet.  All applicants are required to submit this form signed, prior to being admitted into a teacher education program at ODU.  
  • Submit Post-baccalaureate Endorsement Program Application with a copy of passing scores on Praxis I or equivalent approved scores by the Viginia Board of Education, and official transcripts in a sealed envelope to Teacher Education Servicies and Advising, Room 152, Education Building.  If you are a distance learning student, meet with your TTN Site Director 
  • Once admitted into the Post-baccalaureate Endorsement Program, the student will be a graduate non-degree post-baccalaureate status and will receive an official attribute.  This will allow the student to be eligible for financial aid.
