Teacher Candidate
A Teacher Candidate is a students who has: 1) declared an undergraduate major and has been admitted into the undergraduate teacher education program; 2) admitted into a graduate teacher education program with initial licensure; or 3) admitted into a teacher education licensure only program. The following information is provided for assisting Teacher Candidates as they complete their respective program.

The Meritorious New Teacher Candidate (MNTC)
This designation has been established to celebrate exceptionally well-prepared and high-performing new teachers. New teachers who have met the rigorous criteria for this designation will be fully certified to teach in any of the cooperating states, and reciprocity provisions will be worked out in each cooperating state as part of of Mid-Atlantic Regional Teacher Project (MARTP).
